MARTIAL ARTS CLASSES FOR CHILDREN AND ADULTS

The recreation departments and Yi’s Karate Institute are very proud to accept this opportunity to introduce you to the Martial Art of Tang Soo Do. This program that we have offered for the last 16 years in Egg Harbor and Hamilton Townships. This program has been very successful and our students ranging from beginner to Black Belt have distinguished themselves time and again at tournaments throughout the Tri-State area and Europe.

BEGINNER CLASS

Designed to give new students a complete introduction to the Martial Arts, this course covers all of the basics from hand and kick techniques to the history and philosophy of the art. Two weekly classes for ten weeks held in “street clothes” gives young students and their parents a no-pressure opportunity to see if Martial Arts training is truly right for them. A skills review held at the end of the course enables students to advance to the next level.

All students will be certified through the International Martial Arts Association (I.M.A.), which is headed by Grand Master Ki Yun Yi, an 9th Dan Black Belt with more than 50 years experience in Tang Soo Do. The Association has schools both here on the East Coast, England, South Africa, Central America, Italy, Poland, Malta an Ireland.

INTERMEDIATE CLASS

(White, Yellow, Orange, Green and Light Blue belt levels)

Students learn that a steady climb toward Black Belt begins with a strong foundation. This course will fine-tune basic skills and teach new techniques which increase in difficulty with each belt rank promotion. Forms and One-Steps are part of the complete training program, and students receive formal reviews of both oral knowledge and physical skills every four months.

ADVANCED CLASS

(Brown, Purple, Red, Cho Dan Bo and Black Belts)

At this level students continue to review all skills previously learned and are introduced to more advanced techniques including weapons training. The course is designed to ready students for their move to Black Belt level, and formal skills reviews are held every four months for Brown through Red Belt, every six months for Cho Dan Bo and above.

ADULTS CLASS

The Adult training program covers all of the skills previously listed in the Beginner through Advanced classes for children, only at a slightly quicker pace. Beginners are given one-on-one attention until they have learned the basic movements, and the extended class period combines students of all levels, from Beginner to Black Belt. All formal reviews and belt ranks are standard throughout the Martial Arts program.

SPECIAL CLASSES

BLACK BELT CLASS: Monthly classes specifically designed to enhance the skills of those who have reached Cho Dan Bo and Black Belt level. Student's master techniques needed to advance to the next Black Belt Dan, and are given the opportunity to become a Certified Instructor through the I.M.A. Association.
